Our Mission
Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert (FBM) operates a shelter for mistreated and abandoned Galgo dogs in Spain near Alcala de Guadaira. It is the largest shelter in Spain that focuses on the plight of the Galgo.
Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert America has been established as a 501 (c) 3 charitable corporation for the purpose of helping to carry out FBM’s mission in America.
Fundraising
We fundraise to help meet the needs of the shelter. While, the shelter typically runs at full capacity, after hunting season, the shelter is bursting at the seams. Your donation goes directly to the sheltering and care of abandoned Galgos.
Education
At the core of what we do is to educate the public about the plight of the Galgo and the problem the breed is facing in Spain. By bringing awareness to what is happening to the Galgo, we hope to one day bring and end to the the overbreeding, neglect and abuse.
Adoption
We promote adoption advocacy programs in America (there are currently established organizations in France, Germany, Belgium and Italy) for this magnificent breed. If you are interested in finding adoption information in the U.S. click here.
